I recently did some pro bono work for a 501(c)(8) non-profit regarding reinstating the organization’s tax exempt status. The work I did was free and not tax deductible. However, the work itself was rewarding and I learned a lot in the process.
Money is not always the true source of reward.
During my professional training and career in law, public service and pro bono work was encouraged as part of our professional responsibility. I believe that professionals owe a duty to contribute to the public good.
